FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT SHOULD I/WE EXPECT FROM OUR CONSULTATION?

We offer a 15 minute consultation so we can become acquainted. This is an opportunity for the therapist to learn why you are seeking support as well as for you to inquire about how a therapist can help. It is important you feel comfortable finding a therapist that fits with you. A good therapeutic alliance is beneficial as it helps you achieve the goals you set out for yourself. During our consultation, we will inquire about symptoms you may be experiencing, but please remember that a consultation is not a therapy session.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Yes. We  currently accept Lyra Health and a few additional insurances. Please inquire through the preferred method of email.  We are also considered an out-of-network provider and can provide a superbill after each session. The superbill contains the information needed to submit to your health insurance plan for out-of-network reimbursement. Please call your insurance plan directly to inquire about your benefits so you understand what your reimbursement rate will be and how to complete the process.

WHAT CAN I/WE EXPECT FROM THERAPY?

Prior to beginning therapy, we will send a secure link containing information about Movement Talk Therapy, LCSW, Inc. practice policies, a questionnaire, and consent forms for you to review and complete. During the initial session, we will explore any present concerns/ challenges, what you would like to achieve in therapy and how you like to be supported. We recommend meeting once per week as many people find they can address their needs within a short period of time. However, we want to make sure therapy works for you, so we are open to discussing decreased frequency of sessions. Long-term therapy normally addresses more complex concerns and experiences and takes a longer period of time. Please remember therapists are not magical beings that clear all issues, concerns, and challenges, BUT we can empathize, point out patterns, provide psychoeducation, collaborate, validate and assist in teaching skills and tools to hopefully help you cope, communicate, and feel healthier.

WHO CAN WORK WITH MOVEMENT TALK THERAPY, INC.?

Your therapist search is no longer limited to the area (city/county) in which you reside due to the new normal of telehealth (online) therapy. Anyone who resides in the state of California, has access to the internet, can navigate/work the HIPAA compliant video platform we use and has access to a safe, (hopefully) distraction free space, can work with us. Remember to give yourself time to decompress after therapy sessions to process topics and discussions.

WHY WORK WITH MOVEMENT TALK THERAPY, INC.?

Nothing beats choosing your therapist. During a consultation, you can ask questions and learn about their scope of practice. Additionally, the therapist can inform you if they feel they can assist you in your mental health journey or provide additional referrals/resources. Movement Talk Therapy is a company that strives to conduct legal and ethical business practices for all humans connected to it. We strive to give back by providing accessible psychotherapy and prioritize well-being (of therapists & clients) over mass profit.
